Want to bounce out of bed in the morning? Here are our tips

Not a morning person? We hear you! But did you know there are so many benefits to switch to mornings, one of the main ones being how productive and satisfied you will feel which sets your day up for success?
If one of your goals is to get up earlier and get more done in the morning, then we've put together some do's and don'ts that we think will help you achieve this,
Do
  • If morning workout is your aim, make sure it's an enjoyable one - have something you are looking forward to - do exercise you enjoy (we're biased but we think reformer Pilates is right up there as a super fun workout!)
  • Allow enough time and get enough sleep (go to bed half an hour earlier if needed)
  • Power down before bed - ideally refrain from screens for at least 30 minutes prior to bed time to wind down and be ready for sleep
  • Gradually adjust earlier - don't shock yourself straight away! Try 15-30 minutes earlier to start with and build up until you get to the wake up time you desire.
  • Be prepared - if you’re working out at home, or jumping on your YR bed in your living room, you may not even need to get out of your pyjamas! But if you love wearing active wear, and it helps you to feel motivated to move, then get your outfit out the night before to save time rummaging around or deciding what to wear. Have your workout planned - pick your class in the YR OnDemand app with plenty of time before.
  • Word your support person up - if you have a partner, then tell them what you're planning so they can help if needed in the morning with the kids for example.
Don’t
  • Check your phone until at least 30 minutes after you wake (unless you are using your class app). Avoid social media and especially stay away from work emails! They're not going anywhere.
  • Snooze the alarm
  • Go to bed at different times and wake up at different times. The body loves rhythm and predictability so the best thing you can do is to find a routine. We have plenty of class length options so rather than changing your wake up time, just change your workout length to fit in with what you have on.
  • Give up - it takes some time to build new habits and for the routine to get easier.
